New Corrosion Inhibitor Stops Chloride Attack In Offshore Structures A new product by CortecR Corpo- ration can be used to stop the attack of chloride in sea air and water for existing concrete structures. The product, called MCIR 2020, can be used to stop corrosion in high strength structural foundations and machinery pads; concrete tanks and vessels; wharves, peers and off-shore concrete structures. The product is applied to the sur- face of the structure, and it then migrates through the concrete and seeks out ferrous metal in the foun- dation, deck or ramp. The MCI 2020 attaches to rein- forcing bars, galvanized rebar, steel mesh, aluminum and other metal members to form a thin protective layer of MCI's. The product reportedly even pro- tects degraded areas of epoxy-coated rebar in new structures. The inhibitor will migrate for a considerable distance through con- crete to seek out the ferrous member and protect it. The MCI's protective layer pre- vents chemical reaction between the combination of moisture, chlorides, sulfur and nitrogen dioxides with the ferrous metals in the structure to stop further corrosion. American Marine Jet Redesigns Skid Pack For Traktor I Jets North American Marine Jet, us- ng technology gained from the nanufacture of Traktor I Jets, has edesigned the "Total Installation 5kid Pack" into an all steel weld init, as well as the aluminum model. Oil field operators in Portugal ireferred steel instead of aluminum onstruction for their new seismic un boat, which is being built by Roberts Engineering in Vancouver, >.C. The seismic boat will feature ual Traktor Jet IA units. The Traktor Jet steel model has le strength to withstand the re- eated shock waves generated by sismic gun boats and also features unit incorporated heat exchanger /stem to cool the Cummins 6BT ngines. The change to steel required ex- •a cooling capacity. rew Ameroid Expands Its /elding And Refrigerant roduct Line With the introduction of plasma .tting equipment for efficiently cut- ig metals up to 19mm thick, Drew neroid Marine has expanded and Lhanced its welding and refriger- it product (WRP) line. Drew's new AMERARC™ plasma ptember, 1993 systems are portable and reportedly easy-to-use, and require only access to electrical power and compressed air to produce a clean, high-quality cut. Drew's plasma systems report- edly offer advantages over the con- ventional process for cutting all steels of less than 10mm thick, as plasma cutting eliminates the seri- ous dross problem associated with the oxy-fuel process.
