<BODY> <div> od of time, a fact that helped to earn them the Judges Award. They were one of six ROV teams that built a vehicle during a semester long course. The assignment was to build a vehicle to the MATE event specifi- cations, and the team designed and built theirs in just nine days. The team received 110 points in the pool mission and 185 points overall, ranking them third for the in-water portion of the competition. The success of this year's competition is partly due to the generosity of the sponsors, who provided a total of $4,000, enabling the judges to increase the cash prizes for first and second places to $500. The increased amount will help defray the expenses for the teams to travel to Houston for the Nationals in June. Sponsors such as Lockheed Martin Sippican , SAIC, Bluefin Robotics, McLane Research Laboratories, Woods Hole Marine Systems, SeaBotix, Trinity International, Technical and Marketing Services, and Webb Research provided the funds for the cash prizes to support the future of the industry. Next year the nationals will be held at Memorial University in New Foundland in the ice research facility.
