For the forecast, greater attention is given to ice movement along or near the ice edge and near land. e text product Sea Ice Advisory? is issued shortly after the ice graphics and contains more detailed information about the ice analysis, large scale weather impacting the ice, and variations in the ice forecast through the 5-day period when needed. A new addition to the ice Web page is the GoogleMap depic- tion of the ice analysis. Ice coverage can be seen by holding the mouse over an area. e Alaska Sea Ice Program provides limited support to private and commercial marine operations in waters adjacent to Alaska when ice is present. e Ice Desk can be reached Monday through Friday at 907-266-5138, and support for o-duty hours can be provided. As part of the National Weather Service, NOAA, and the Department of Commerce, the members of the sea ice program team are proud to contribute to the protection of our customers lives and livelihoods.
