January 2011 www.sname.org/sname/mt (mailbag )Re: the October issue of (mt) : I love the new Founders and Leaders? section, and I think the Glossary is a great added feature that is lacking in many magazines. Keep up the good work. Bruce Rosenblatt I see from the latest issue of (mt) that others are not happy with the new format. You can add me to the cho- rus. I hope the results of the recent survey will cause you to revert to the old format. D.C. Pritchard, PE David C. Pritchard, Inc. I am enjoying the new (mt) format immensely. It is a huge improvement over the old format. Like John Simpson (Mailbag, October), I, too, have been a member for 40 years. I like the new format and nd it much more relevant to what is really happening in the eld. Keep up the great work. Charlie Walther San Rafael, CA I wish to add another voice to the chorus of dissent regard- ing the new format of (mt) . It was a rare issue of Marine Technology in which I did not nd at least one article to read in detail and was imme- diately useful, and there are some memorable issues with three or four landmark papers. The October 1993 issue, with papers by MacPherson, Calisal and McGreer, and Almeter springs to mind, but there are many others. All are useful on my bookshelf in many libraries. In my hometown, the local news- paper used to be a ectionately known as the three minutes of silence,? because thats how long it took to read. Unfortunately, (mt) is now in the same category, as it does not take long to skim through the far-less useful and interesting articles. It will be di cult to justify a continuing subscription by the university library without refer- eed technical articles.
