PEOPLE & COMPANY NEWS TECO Announces New VP At Mid-South Towing TECO Transport Corporation has announced that Gary W. Kovac has been named the new vice president of one of its compa- nies, Mid-South Towing Company. He assumed his duties from former Mid-South vice president, Don Salsbury, who retired after nearly 20 years with the company. Kovac comes to Mid-South from MariTrend, Inc., a privately-held stevedoring company and sub- sidiary of the Vectura Group, head- quartered in New Orleans. Kovac was MariTrend's president and CEO since August 1997. Mid- South, based in Metropolis, 111., is a river barging operation that mainly serves the Mississippi, Illinois and Ohio Rivers.
